Sofia Kafol
Dancer, choreographer and human being with a funny accent, 1996.
Luso-Slovene, raised and educated in Trieste, Italy, matured in Slovenia.
Originally trained in classical ballet at the Conservatory in Maribor, Slovenia, she expanded her horizons with a degree in Languages and Literature at the University of Trieste. She moved to Porto to further her dance studies at Oficina ZERO, where she took part in creations by Mafalda Deville, Elisabeth Lambeck and Horácio Macuacua. She collaborates as a performer with Edward Clug (Peter Pan, 2011), Dario Cossutta (Intiméla, 2019), Luisa Mota (Delicate Nature, 2021), Daniel Matos (VÄRA, 2022), Ana Rita Barata (O AQUI, 2022), João Sanchez (FINIMONDO, 2023), Davis Freeman (REFLECTION, 2023), Francisco Camacho (GUST 9723, 2023), Ana Jezabel (Dia-a-Dia, 2023), Paulina Olowska (Alphabet, 2023), João dos Santos Martins (Vida e Obra, 2024), Kensaku Shinohara (Good Bye, 2024), Madalena Victorino (CASAIS, 2023; RUMOR, 2024) among others. She experiences the body as an archive of sensory memories, a place of deconstruction and celebration, in a continuous search for emancipation and pleasure. This is how she created the solo LADYLIKE (2021), which is part of the National Young Creators Exhibition 2024 (Gerador). She is currently in the process of creating VORACE.
