Encontros que Contam
Between March and June, Materiais Diversos visits the Aguarela Roque Gameiro Museum for some small family gatherings. Encontros que contam (Encounters that count), for children and grandchildren, and parents and grandparents. Once a month, inspired by the MARG collection, in its garden or in sections of its minderico heritage, we invite one artist to listen to and to recount, observe and explore, that which is nearby, yet sometimes hidden, and which matters to us.
2020
Encontros que Contam return to Minde in June and July in a conversation format between children and seniors, grandchildren and grandparents, but not each other, grandchildren and grandparents from the same community, temporarily separated friends who will meet again by a thread of conversation . Ana Sofia Paiva and António Fontinha, accountants already known in the Minde community, are back, but this year with a new challenge. This edition of Encontros que Contam will take place at the Centro de Bem-Estar Social de Minde and proposes that children observe small things, pets, pebbles, eggs, nests and holes, and try to find out from their older friends what stories, riddles or spears of popular culture are still fresh in his memory. This new edition of Encontros que Contam is not public, it takes place in the context of the regular activity of the Social Welfare Center of Minde. Until the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the children of the kindergarten visited a group of seniors from CBESM weekly. In the impossibility of this meeting being in person, Materiais Especiais proposed to involve the children and their educators, the seniors and the techniques of the Home, in a research activity on memories and knowledge of oral culture, to be publicly shared in the autumn, in a format to be defined .
