Festival

The Materiais Diversos Festival promotes the meeting of different audiences and imaginaries around the arts (dance, theatre, music and performance) with thought, questioning actuality and fostering cultural participation as a condition for citizenship. Born in Minde, in 2009, it spread to Alcanena and Cartaxo (in 2013) and became one of the most representative projects for programming outside the large centres in Portugal, attempting to think and act from the places it originates. It had been occurring annually until 2017 and became a biannual event starting with its 10th edition in 2019.

From the 5th to the 15th of October 2023, the Festival Materiais Diversos will be in Alcanena and Minde with a program of dance, theater and music shows, installations and conversations. Slowing down and making people, places and processes visible are the mottos of the 12th edition of the festival.

Encontros que contam

Between March and June, Materiais Diversos visits the Aguarela Roque Gameiro Museum for some small family gatherings. Encontros que contam (Encounters that count), for children and grandchildren, and parents and grandparents. Once a month, inspired by the MARG collection, in its garden or in sections of its minderico heritage, we invite one artist to listen to and to recount, observe and explore, that which is nearby, yet sometimes hidden, and which matters to us.

STORYTELLING SESSION WITH DE BRU JUNÇA

Bru carries books on the tips of his fingers as one who leafs through life and writes the days that are to come. It is in the line that he draws the encounter with the other, and through words, that he always squeezes the hug of a circular story, round as a ball of thread. This storyteller, known for the delicate manner in which she sews together words, books, and gatherings, and who, in 2012, created the project Conto por Ponto, comes from Évora, the city in which she was born and where she worked as a kindergarten teacher, where she began storytelling and from where she departed to innumerable storytelling gatherings and festivals.
