The Materiais Diversos Festival promotes the meeting of different audiences and imaginaries around the arts (dance, theatre, music and performance) with thought, questioning actuality and fostering cultural participation as a condition for citizenship. Born in Minde, in 2009, it spread to Alcanena and Cartaxo (in 2013) and became one of the most representative projects for programming outside the large centres in Portugal, attempting to think and act from the places it originates. It had been occurring annually until 2017 and became a biannual event starting with its 10th edition in 2019.

From the 3rd to the 12th of October 2025, the Festival Materiais Diversos will be in Alcanena and Minde with a program of dance, theater and music shows, installations and conversations.

We Support

Fios do Meio

2023

Fios do Meio is a support for creation on a regional basis, which aims to support, know and make known the artistic work of people living or working in the district of Santarém. The support is targeted to any age, gender or nationality, continuing the work started with the Filhos do Meio support (launched in 2018). It also hopes to encourage new collaborations — through deepening Materiais Diversos relationship with artists from this territory — and aims to be able to boost cultural activities promoted by the community, nurturing social cohesion and the development of creative and critical skills.

The designation Fios do Meio, which replaces the former Filhos do Meio, centers the place of creation and values ​​the artistic role in the vitality of cultural ecosystems.

Assigned by annual open call, Fios do Meio privileges projects in the field of performing arts, although it does not exclude other areas, and includes the financial support of €7,000 covering the period of creation, logistical and technical support, artistic monitoring, residencies and presentation public, within the scope of the Festival of Materiais Diversos and in cultural venues which are partners in the region — Centro Cultural do Cartaxo, Cineteatro Paraíso (Tomar) and TMO (Ourém).

*Fios do Meio support can be cumulative with support from other entities (example, GDA, DGArtes, etc…)
