Fios do Meio

Fios do Meio is a creation support programme whose main objectives are to support, understand and disseminate the artistic work of people of any age, gender or nationality, born, residing or professionally active in the districts of Santarém and Leiria. It is aimed at both emerging and established artists developing projects in the fields of performing arts, new artistic languages and hybrid performance practices.

By identifying artists and artistic projects as “fios do meio” (“threads in the middle”), the programme seeks to acknowledge their relevance to the vitality of communities and territories. Through this initiative, Materiais Diversos and its regional partners aim to contribute to the anchoring and development of artistic activity in the region, creating conditions for the deepening of projects and for strengthening relationships with audiences, cultural organisations and local agents.

Integrated within the MD Accompanies strand, the programme provides support to selected projects through artistic and dramaturgical mentoring, as well as production and administrative support whenever needed.

The selection will be made through an open call to be launched in the final quarter of 2026.

The public presentation of selected projects is scheduled for the Materiais Diversos Festival 2027 and for the venues of the partner organisations.
