Matéria Bruta
Matéria Bruta is a new programme by Materiais Diversos: a two-year transdisciplinary research project rooted in a specific territory. Unlike a conventional creation grant, its primary aim is not the production of a final work, but rather the development of processes of research, critical thinking, and artistic and political positioning grounded in the territory’s specificities — material and immaterial, environmental, social and cultural.
The programme fosters intersections between artistic practices, local knowledge, scientific research and academic contexts, taking as its starting point key themes emerging both from the region and from Materiais Diversos’ programming, such as ecosystems in transformation (the Mar de Minde), the porosities of territory, forms of discreet spirituality, or language as a metaphor for identity, as in the case of Minderico, the local sociolect.
Matéria Bruta includes residencies, artistic mentoring and public sharing moments.
