SAVE THE DATE – materiais diversos festival
From the 3rd to the 12th of October 2025, the materiais diversos festival will be in Alcanena and Minde with a program of dance, theater and music shows, installations and conversations.
The Materiais Diversos Festival promotes the meeting of different audiences and imaginaries around the arts (dance, theatre, music and performance) with thought, questioning actuality and fostering cultural participation as a condition for citizenship. Born in Minde, in 2009, it spread to Alcanena and Cartaxo (in 2013) and became one of the most representative projects for programming outside the large centres in Portugal, attempting to think and act from the places it originates. It had been occurring annually until 2017 and became a biannual event starting with its 10th edition in 2019.

NOVOS MATERIAIS is a consultancy support for dance projects that exists since 2018, through which Materiais Diversos aims to strengthen and systematize the support for artists working in this area, providing resources and experience in terms of production, dissemination, attracting funding and communication.
Each year, through an open call, a project is selected from a person or group resident in Portugal, with no ties to a production structure, who will benefit from production consultancy by the Materiais Diversos team based on a jointly defined work plan and objectives.
The consultancy includes:
– Funding search
– Financial management
– Planning
– Production
– Communication
– Sharing methodologies and tools
– Bi-Weekly meetings
– Definition of objectives and progress reports
Since 2023, this support has also provided, in partnership with Estúdios Victor Córdon (Lisbon) and UMCOLETIVO (Portalegre):
– Creation support worth €1,000;
– A two-week artistic residency in June at Teatro do Convento/Portalegre;
– A two-week artistic residency, from September 2 to 13, at the EVC/Lisbon;
– Possibility of an informal presentation at the end of the residencies, if relevant to the project;
– Possibility of technical and dramaturgical support from UMCOLETIVO, if relevant to the project.
